The median home price for Seymour is $86,500 for homes sold on property of 10 acres or less.

 

Real estate in the Seymour area is still very much affordable providing excellent investment value to the homeowner.

 

Seymour offers a rural setting with the opportunity to own a home in the country on a large acreage. Homes sold on land between 12 and 66 acres (average 27 acres) is $144,000.

 

In a survey listing median home prices for 160 metropolitan areas in the entire United States only five median home prices are equal to or less than Seymour. All of these locations are in more northern latitudes and do not enjoy the temperate climate of southern Missouri.

 

Schools

Seymour Schools are fully accredited by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

 

Seymour Schools have met all the requirements of the Outstanding Schools Act of 1993 achieving A+ status.

 

Students who graduate from a designated A+ school may qualify for state-paid assistance to attend any public community college or career technical school in the state.

 

Missouri has 520 total schools, only 219 are designated A+.

 

Seymour Schools have recently completed a 1.7 million dollar expansion program to accommodate growth.

 

Seymour Schools have a graduation rate of 92.5% compared to the state average of 85%.

 

In addition to the general curriculum Seymour Schools offer:

  • Distance Learning through the Missouri Virtual School giving high school students the opportunity to earn college credit through Missouri State University while still in high school.

  • High School Vocation / Technical Training in Auto Body, Auto Mechanics, Electronics, Building Trades, Heating and Cooling, Health Care and Welding.

Seymour Schools are technologically state of the art with 1.68 students per computer compared to the state average of 3.3 students per computer. All classrooms have high speed internet access. Training is provided at various grade levels.

 

Secondary education opportunities are available within a commuting distance that would allow someone to work locally and further their education.

 

Included are: Missouri State University, Ozark Technical College, Drury University, Southwest Baptist University, Evangel University, Springfield College and Vatterot College.

 

In 2002, a new 18,000 sq. ft. YMCA building was built within walking distance of the schools with funding provided by contributions to the Youth Opportunities Program. Cooperation between the YMCA and the Seymour School system make available numerous activities for the youth in the community.
